Members of the Art Club may be interested in attending a meeting of our friends and neighbors in the Saugatuck Douglas Historical Society next Wednesday, March 10 at 7 pm at the Old School House, Mixer and Center in Douglas. The subject is women artists of the Saugatuck area.
If you are on LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com), there now is a Saugatuck Douglas Art Club group there. Let Jim Hanson know if you want to join.
Membership is due now. Membership for next year is $10 a person, as it has been for many years. Send dues to Box 176, Saugatuck MI 49453.
You can buy 2010 calendars from Peggy Boyce at Discovery Art Center, Saugatuck. The price is $6 a calendar. Don’t forget to work on your calendar picture for next year, if you haven’t done one. It should be black and white, 8 ½ x 11 sideways, or what the computer calls “landscape” orientation.
In 2010 we will have new T-shirts with a recycled logo from a shirt Pauly Brockington has had for several years -- it is a little stick figure artist against a 50's modern backdrop. There are several colors and sizes to choose from and the designs will be printed on cotton-polyester blend shirts that will wick away moisture. We need twelve orders to have these shirts produced. If you are interested call Jim Hanson at 857-4823.
On Saturday, April 3 we will have a jurying party to choose the artists for next year’s Waterfront Invitational Art Fair. If you’d like to participate – and we especially need people who know jewelry arts – call Jim.
The first meeting of the new year will be April 5 at 7:15 pm at the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library. It is our annual Show and Tell program. Please bring something to talk about and to share.
Want to help the Art Club raise money for scholarships and supporting the arts in our community? Consider underwriting an art fair expense. It is tax-deductable. Click here for more information.
