One cold day during Covid I found the art club online. Having recently retired and relocated to Saugatuck in 2021, I was a bit lonely and lost without co-workers or friends. But, it wasn’t long before art club member, Judy Anthrop, got me hooked on plein air painting. She gave me a handwritten list of locations, phone numbers of fellow enthusiasts and some good quality paper and brushes. I quickly discovered a passion for painting outdoors and have been coordinating the plein air group ever since. In January 2025 I was honored to become a member of the art club board.
My husband, John Trapp, was born and raised in Michigan and for many summers we had family reunions in Saugatuck. Now we are happy to be year-round residents. We have two adult children who live in California. When we’re not planning visits with them or frolicking with neighbors on Spear St. we can usually be found drawing, painting or otherwise enjoying the spectacular scenery of West Michigan.
