Betsy York
I learned to love the outdoors when camping with my parents. Every tree, wave, groups of grass, clouds are connected and show us a beautiful world. Painting helps me see the beauty of this world and remember good times exploring trails and playing in the water. I try to get to the lake regularly to look at and breathe in the wild. My paintings are expressions of love for the subject.
With a BA in Sociology from Pomona College and an MBA from Simmons University, my life journey kept me away from painting until I settled in the Douglas Saugatuck area and began to put doing art first. I have studied online with Cat Pope and Matt Smith, and been supported locally by Anne Corlett, John Thomas, Christopher Strunk, and many members of the Saugatuck Douglas Art Club. I am grateful to live in such a beautiful place with so many good artists to show me the way.
