Judy Bowman Anthrop

My art life started with my mother, one of the most creative women I've ever known.  Her mother was an art teacher in Indiana. I have been painting since I was a child and specialized in watercolor and textiles in college.

In the last 15 years I have been studying with many professionals. I go to Mohegan, Maine for all of September to paint a body of work. In winter I'm in Apalachicola with many artists painting daily. I have transferred from watercolor to oils.

I have a home studio above the garage and I spend 4 to 6 hours a day drawing and painting. I enjoy the "in the zone" time alone.

During Covid I have obsessed on series.  I usually paint series. One series was painting all the buildings on my friend Joan's farm. Another series was painting the homes of VanGogh, Frieda Kahlo, Vermeer and Monet.
