Teri Utz Bersée

I interpret the world in a Realistic manner with a lean toward Impressionism, primarily using oils and soft pastels. I infuse no symbolism or other hidden meanings in my work…….my work expresses a truthful, immediate, face-to-face (and hopefully enjoyable) experience…. plain and simple.

You will not see a strong overriding theme in my body of work because there are too many varieties of subjects I like to record. I love the challenge of any subject (and commissions and fair weather plein air painting)  although, currently I am focusing a lot of effort on portraiture and figurative work.

Most attractive to me are dramatic lighting, compositions of interesting shapes and colors, the architecture of human and animal forms, old buildings and the beauty and power of nature.

Finally, I wholeheartedly admit that I will always experiment with materials, method or technique because it naturally feeds my curiosity and artistic growth. I find an inherent sense of peace knowing I will always be learning and will “never have nothing” to create!
