ZCashmere was started in 2012 when designer, creator, and maker Sue Fleming began refashioning previously owned cashmere sweaters.
The locally sourced, 100% cashmere sweaters are washed, dried, brushed (to remove any pills), steam pressed, folded, sorted into color categories, and separated by weight.
Next, the pattern is selected and a primary color is chosen.
Then, the dance with creativity begins.
Pieces begin to form a mosaic. A pop of color is added for interest. The accent color is chosen for the hand-stitching, layering in sophistication.
Every detail is considered. Each square inch of fabric is optimized. The playground of creativity opens; as the garment takes shape it often surprises.
The common thread is that each garment is an original work of art.
For the final embellishment, the signature dot is placed. The life cycle of the cashmere sweater continues.
