Off the Wall: You Ought to Be in Pictures
at the Saugatuck High School art room
You won’t want to miss this. As Beavis once told Butthead, “Yeah, master painting is cool.” A tableau vivant, French for “living picture,” is a static scene containing one or more actors or models. Participants are stationary and silent, usually in costume, carefully posed, with props and/or scenery, and may be theatrically lit and then photographed. It thus combines aspects of theater and the visual arts and lots of fun.
At this meeting, Christa Wise will show you examples of past student tableaux and will give you time to peruse art history books to plan a tableau for just you, or perhaps a collaboration of some friends and/or animals, to stage at the next meeting. Our photos will be on display at the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library, celebrated by an opening in June. Get your fifteen minutes of fame!

Scott Sullivan! If past experience holds true, this will be a busy, fun time for participants and cheerleaders.
